Kikskin: These shorts surprised me a great deal. The SFUK shorts worn by the top British fighters are made by Kikskin. These shorts are made from double thick 88% tactel 12% lycra material, this means that not only are they very thick they are also tight and stay in place very well. The shorts are cut a little shorter in the leg then other shorts and have a elasticised trim to prevent riding, I like the cut of the leg but some may not, it's all down to personal preference. There is not a lot of stitching on these shorts so you don`t have to worry about them tearing. The shorts have a very subtle logo which will appeal to a lot of fighters. The only problem I found with the Kikskin shorts is that the material does bobble after a while, this is not a huge problem as you can buy products which can remove the "bobbles" without ruining the garment. When I first ordered these shorts I must admit I wasn`t expecting great thing from them but as I said before they surprised me a great deal, I would recommend these shorts to every one but beware they are not cheap, these are the most expensive shorts I have bought but if you want the best you must be prepared to pay that little extra.

Kikskin are The best shorts made in the USA and probably the world. You can order these shorts at www.kikskin.com or if your lucky the SFUK staff may have a pair lying around.

9.5/10 A quality short which is also very comfortable to wear, excellent.

I first heard about Kikskin products from Dave Camarillo. Dave Camarillo is a BJJ phenom and a good guy to listen to when it comes to what kind of equipment to buy.

I received Kikskin's Kompetitor Gi and immediately I was very impressed. The Kikskin Kompetitor is an insanely good gi! The weave is soft and fantastic to role in. An EXCELLENT buy for the price. I felt very comfortable and mobile in the Kompetitor as well.

The patching is some of the best around. The chest/should patch is bold and designed nicely. The entire gi has an awesome look and is very traditional in design.

Oh, did I mention the gi they sent was black? Yes...black. If you want to feel like the Darth Vader of BJJ, pick up Kikskin's Kompetitor series gi in black! Black is a color you don't see much in BJJ but it is definitely very cool.

Overall, a fantastic gi. Kikskin has been delivering nice looking, comfortable and durable gis for a long long time. They continue to step up to the plate and offer one of the finest products on the market. If you're gi shopping, check out Kikskin. Great products and great people to deal with.

The Kikskin Company was Founded in 1994 by Scott Mofhitz , a kenpo and jiu-jitsu school owner in Sacramento , CA, who studied under Ralf and Caesar Gracie. I had the opportunity to speak with Scott about his products and business philosophy. He is a hell of a guy whose fine business practice reflects in his quality products.

The first thing I noticed about this gi was that the fabric was not a coarse as most Jiu-jitsu Gis on the market. The fabric on the outside of the jacket seemed to have a silkier feel than my other gis. This was the first time I noticed a vertical weave pattern on the sleeve of a gi, which prompted me to examine some of my other jackets to compare. It seems the only other gi (in my closet) that follows a similar pattern is Mkimono's Hybrid weave. The fact that the pattern runs vertically definitely makes the sleeves harder to grip. As a tip and side note: if you put tons of fabric softener on a gi like this, your sleeves will be very hard to grab.

The fit of the gi was comfortable and loose. The one thing particularly appealing to me was the fit of the pants; this was the first gi I have ever tried on that had long enough pant legs! A great gi for all you fellows over the average 5'10" height. The jacket is a loose fit design with a little more room in the cuffs than I usually prefer, but would be very well suited for a bodybuilder type with larger forearms or those who prefer playing an open guard game. It has the same `one-piece' design as the Krugans or Mkimonos gis (no skirt) with a comfortable average width collar.

PRODUCT REVIEWS
KIKSKIN Fighting Glove

Founded in 1994 by Scott Mofhitz , a kenpo and jiu-jitsu school owner in Sacramento , CA, who studied under Ralf and Caesar Gracie, KIKSKIN has become a fighters' favorite for their innovative and top-quality fighting gear. Dissatisfied with existing products, Mofhitz saw a need for item which better fit the non-traditional sport of MMA and was one of the first to use the lycra fabric to make fighting shorts for use in the cage. Starting with t-shirts, hats, lycra fighting shorts, and then gi's Mofhitz has now moved into combat gear. The new KIKSKIN Fighting Gloves design effort began in 2000 when Mofhitz decided to improve the standard fighting glove design by elimination neoprene in the palm area and replacing it with nubuck leather, which is high-quality and long lasting, to reduce slippage. "I truly felt," Mofhitz says, "that with MMA going to the next level and being approved around the U.S., a high-quality professional-level glove was needed."
The glove design had direct input from Paul Smith from the IFC, who is on the California Martial Arts Advisory Committee, and Mofhitz structured the glove to meet the informal guidelines of the various sanctioning bodies. He received input from New Jersey State Athletic Commissioner Larry Hazard Jr., via Paul Smith , who saw and liked the glove. Approval also came from Arizona's Tom Proctor, who made the KIKSKIN glove the unofficial standard for Arizona fighting shows. The Submission Fighting United Kingdom Organization recently reviewed the gloves on www.sfuk.net against many other top competing models and awarded it the prestigious "Best Open-Palm Glove" award.
The gloves are available for sale now in 8 oz. and 10 oz. models, in black nubuck leather, with inside gel foam padding, and an integrated neoprene elastic wrist wrap. To purchase call
888-545-7546  (888-KIKSKIN). 8 oz. models are $59.95 and the 10oz units are $69.95. Whole sale inquires welcome.
